FFL Policies and Procedures
Business Overview
Desert City Firearms is a home-based, veteran-operated Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) in El Paso, TX. We specialize in firearm transfers and custom Kydex, Holstex, or Boltaron Holsters and accessories. With over 12 years of law enforcement experience, we are committed to providing professional, courteous, and compliant service to all our customers.
General Policies
1. **Business Hours**
Appointments only. Please contact us to schedule.
* No walk-ins.
* Contact via phone, email, or social media to set a time.
2. **Transfers**
* Firearm transfers are accepted from both FFLs and private individuals.
* All inbound transfers must be approved in advance.
* Transfer fee: $35 per firearm.
* Government-issued ID required for all transfers.
* Background check (NICS) is mandatory unless exempt (e.g., Texas LTC/CHL holders).
3. **Firearm Pickups**
* Must be 21+ for handguns, frames, and receivers; 18+ for long guns.
* All pickups require a 4473 form and successful background check unless exempt.
* Firearms will only be released to the individual listed on the 4473.
4. Storage
* Firearms must be picked up within **14 days** of arrival unless otherwise arranged.
* After 30 days, storage fees may apply, or firearm may be returned to sender (additional fees apply).
5. Refusal of Service
Desert City Firearms reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for the following:
* Suspicion of straw purchases.
* Suspicion of illegal activity.
* Threatening or disruptive behavior.
* Attempted purchase by prohibited persons.
All work is done by appointment.
Customer-supplied firearms or parts must be transferred in legally and with documentation.
Turnaround times vary and will be discussed at time of order.
50% deposit required for custom work. Remainder due at pickup.
No refunds on custom work once materials are ordered or work has begun.
Compliance
Desert City Firearms strictly follows all local, state, and federal laws. This includes:
Full compliance with ATF regulations.
Secure storage and logging of all firearms in our bound book.
Conducting all background checks in accordance with federal law.
